Order of Revelation: 73

Transliteration:

Qul man yaklaokum biallayli waalnnahari mina alrrahmani bal hum AAan thikri rabbihim muAAridoona

Word by Word:

Say, "Who (can) protect you in the night and the day from the Most Gracious?" Yet, they from (the) remembrance (of) their Lord turn away.

Translations:

Say: Who could protect you, by night or by day, from the Most Gracious?" And yet, from a remembrance of their Sustainer do they stubbornly turn away!

Say: "Who can keep you safe by night and by day from (the Wrath of) (God) Most Gracious?" Yet they turn away from the mention of their Lord.

Say: Who guardeth you in the night or in the day from the Beneficent? Nay, but they turn away from mention of their Lord!

Say: Who guards you by night and by day from the Beneficent? Nay, they turn away at the mention of their Lord.

Say, "Who can protect you at night or by day from the Most Merciful?" But they are, from the remembrance of their Lord, turning away.

Transliteration:

Am lahum alihatun tamnaAAuhum min doonina la yastateeAAoona nasra anfusihim wala hum minna yushaboona

Word by Word:

Or have they gods (to) defend them from Us? Not they are able (to) help themselves and not they from Us can be protected.

Translations:

Do they [really think that they] have deities that could shield them from Us? Those [alleged deities] are not [even] able to succour themselves: hence, neither can they [who worship them hope to] be aided [by them] against Us.

Or have they gods that can guard them from Us? They have no power to aid themselves, nor can they be defended from Us.

Or have they gods who can shield them from Us? They cannot help themselves nor can they be defended from Us.

Or, have they gods who can defend them against Us? They cannot help themselves, nor can they be defended from Us.

Or do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.

Transliteration:

Bal mattaAAna haola-i waabaahum hatta tala AAalayhimu alAAumuru afala yarawna anna na/tee al-arda nanqusuha min atrafiha afahumu alghaliboona

Word by Word:

Nay, We gave provision (to) these and their fathers until grew long for them, the life. Then do not they see that We We come (to) the land, We reduce it from its borders? So is (it) they (who will be) overcoming?

Translations:

Nay, We have allowed these [sinners] as [We allowed] their forebears to enjoy the good things of life for a great length of time: but then have they never yet seen how We visit the earth [with Our punishment], gradually depriving it of all that is best thereon? Can they, then, [hope to] be the winners?

Nay, We gave the good things of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will win?

Nay, but We gave these and their fathers ease until life grew long for them. See they not how we aim to the land, reducing it of its outlying parts? Can they then be the victors?

Nay, We gave provision to these and their fathers, until life was prolonged to them. See they not then that We are visiting the land, curtailing it of its sides? Can they then prevail?

But, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders? So it is they who will overcome?

Transliteration:

Qul innama onthirukum bialwahyi wala yasmaAAu alssummu aldduAAaa itha ma yuntharoona

Word by Word:

Say, "Only I warn you by the revelation." But not hear the deaf the call when they are warned.

Translations:

SAY [unto all men]: but warn you on the strength of divine revelation!" But the deaf [of heart] will not hearken to this call, however often they are warned.

Say, "I do but warn you according to revelation": But the deaf will not hear the call, (even) when they are warned!

Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I warn you only by the Inspiration. But the deaf hear not the call when they are warned.

Say: I warn you only by revelation; and the deaf hear not the call when they are warned.

Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.

Transliteration:

Wala-in massat-hum nafhatun min AAathabi rabbika layaqoolunna ya waylana inna kunna thalimeena

Word by Word:

And if touches them a whiff of (the) punishment (of) your Lord, surely they will say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we [we] were wrongdoers."

Translations:

And yet, if but a breath of thy Sustainer's chastisement touches them, they are sure to cry, Oh, woe unto us! Verily, we were evildoers!"

If but a breath of the Wrath of thy Lord do touch them, they will then say, "Woe to us! we did wrong indeed!"

And if a breath of thy Lord's punishment were to touch them, they assuredly would say: Alas for us! Lo! we were wrong-doers.

And if a blast of the chastisement of thy Lord were to touch them, they would say: O woe to us! Surely we were unjust.

And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."

Transliteration:

Word by Word:

And We set the scales (of) the justice for (the) Day (of) the Resurrection, so not will be wronged any soul (in) anything. And if (there) be weight (of) a seed of a mustard We will bring [with] it. And sufficient (are) We (as) Reckoners.

Translations:

But We shall set up just balance-scales on Resurrection Day, and no human being shall be wronged in the least: for though there be [in him but] the weight of a mustard-seed [of good or evil], We shall bring it forth; and none can take count as We do!

We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take accoun t.

And We set a just balance for the Day of Resurrection so that no soul is wronged in aught. Though it be of the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We bring it. And We suffice for reckoners.

And We will set up a just balance on the day of Resurrection, so that no soul will be wronged in the least. And if there be the weight of a grain of mustard see, We will bring it. And sufficient are We to take account.

And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.
