93 - The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)

Order of Revelation: 11

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration:

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

Word by Word:

In (the) name (of) Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Translations:

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace.

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

وَالضُّحَىٰ

Transliteration:

Waaldduha

Word by Word:

By the morning brightness,

Translations:

CONSIDER the bright morning hours,

By the Glorious Morning Light,

By the morning hours

By the brightness of the day!

By the morning brightness

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ

Transliteration:

Waallayli itha saja

Word by Word:

And the night when it covers with darkness,

Translations:

and the night when it grows still and dark.

And by the Night when it is still,-

And by the night when it is stillest,

And the night when it is still! --

And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ

Transliteration:

Ma waddaAAaka rabbuka wama qala

Word by Word:

Not has forsaken you your Lord and not He is displeased,

Translations:

Thy Sustainer has not forsaken thee, nor does He scorn thee:

Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.

Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee,

Thy Lord has not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.

Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].

وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration:

Walal-akhiratu khayrun laka mina al-oola

Word by Word:

And surely the Hereafter (is) better for you than the first.

Translations:

for, indeed, the life to come will be better for thee than this earlier part [of thy life]!

And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.

And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,

And surely the latter state is better for thee than the former.

And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].

وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ

Transliteration:

Walasawfa yuAAteeka rabbuka fatarda

Word by Word:

And soon will give you your Lord then you will be satisfied.

Translations:

And, indeed, in time will thy Sustainer grant thee [what thy heart desires], and thou shalt be well-pleased.

And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.

And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.

And soon will thy Lord give thee so that thou wilt be well pleased.

And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
