86 - The Bright Star (Al-Taareq)

Order of Revelation: 36

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration:

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

Word by Word:

In (the) name (of) Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Translations:

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace.

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ

Transliteration:

Waalssama-i waalttariqi

By the sky and the night comer,

Translations:

CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night!

By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);-

By the heaven and the Morning Star

By the heaven and the Comer by night!

By the sky and the night comer -

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ

Transliteration:

Wama adraka ma alttariqu

And what can make you know what the night comer (is)?

Translations:

And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night?

And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?-

- Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is!

And what will make thee know what the Comer by night is?

And what can make you know what is the night comer?

النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ

Transliteration:

Alnnajmu alththaqibu

Word by Word:

(It is) the star, the piercing!

Translations:

It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness:

(It is) the Star of piercing brightness;-

- The piercing Star!

The star of piercing brightness --

It is the piercing star -

إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ

Transliteration:

In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafithun

Word by Word:

Not (is) every soul but over it (is) a protector.

Translations:

[for] no human being has ever been left unguarded.

There is no soul but has a protector over it.

No human soul but hath a guardian over it.

There is not a soul but over it is a keeper.

There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.

فَلْيَنظُرِ الْإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

Transliteration:

Falyanthuri al-insanu mimma khuliqa

So let see man from what he is created.

Translations:

LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created:

Now let man but think from what he is created!

So let man consider from what he is created.

So let man consider of what he is created.

So let man observe from what he was created.
