21 - The Prophets (Al-Anbya')
Order of Revelation: 73قَالَ أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ
Qala afataAAbudoona min dooni Allahi ma la yanfaAAukum shay-an wala yadurrukum
He said, "Then do you worship besides Allah what (does) not benefit you (in) anything and not harms you?
Said [Abraham]: Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you?
(Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides God, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm?
He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you?
He said: Serve you then besides Allah what does you no good, nor harms you?
He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?
أُفٍّ لَّكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
Offin lakum walima taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi afala taAAqiloona
Uff to you and to what you worship besides Allah. Then will not you use reason?"
Fie upon you and upon all that you worship instead of God! Will you not, then, use your reason?"
"Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides God! Have ye no sense?"..
Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense?
Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah! Have you no sense?
Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah . Then will you not use reason?"
قَالُوا حَرِّقُوهُ وَانصُرُوا آلِهَتَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
Qaloo harriqoohu waonsuroo alihatakum in kuntum faAAileena
They said, "Burn him and support your gods, if you are doers."
They exclaimed: Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!"
They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!"
They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing.
They said: Burn him, and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything).
They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."
قُلْنَا يَا نَارُ كُونِي بَرْدًا وَسَلَامًا عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Qulna ya naru koonee bardan wasalaman AAala ibraheema
We said, "O fire! Be cool[ness] and safe[ty] for Ibrahim."
[But] We said: O fire! Be thou cool, and [a source of] inner peace for Abraham!"
We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!"
We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham,
We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham:
Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."
وَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَخْسَرِينَ
Waaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu al-akhsareena
And they intended for him, a plan but We made them the greatest losers.
and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss:
Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most!
And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers.
And they intended a plan against him, but We made them the greater losers.
And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers.
وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ الَّتِي بَارَكْنَا فِيهَا لِلْعَالَمِينَ
Wanajjaynahu walootan ila al-ardi allatee barakna feeha lilAAalameena
And We delivered him and Lut to the land which We (had) blessed [in it] for the worlds.
for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come.
But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations.
And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples.
And We delivered him and Lot (directing them) to the land which We had blessed for the nations.
And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds.
