Hatha bayanun lilnnasi wahudan wamawAAithatun lilmuttaqeena
This (is) a declaration for the people and guidance and admonition for the God-fearing.
this [should be] a clear lesson unto all men, and a guidance and an admonition unto the God-conscious.
Here is a plain statement to men, a guidance and instruction to those who fear God!
This is a declaration for mankind, a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil)
This is a clear statement for men, and a guidance and an admonition to those who would keep their duty.
This [Qur'an] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allah .
Wala tahinoo wala tahzanoo waantumu al-aAAlawna in kuntum mu/mineena
And (do) not weaken and (do) not grieve and you (will be) [the] superior, if you are believers.
Be not, then, faint of heart, and grieve not: for you are bound to rise high if you are [truly] believers.
So lose not heart, nor fall into despair: For ye must gain mastery if ye are true in Faith.
Faint not nor grieve, for ye will overcome them if ye are (indeed) believers.
And be not weak-hearted, nor grieve, and you will have the upper hand if you are believers.
So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.
In yamsaskum qarhun faqad massa alqawma qarhun mithluhu watilka al-ayyamu nudawiluha bayna alnnasi waliyaAAlama Allahu allatheena amanoo wayattakhitha minkum shuhadaa waAllahu la yuhibbu alththalimeena
If touched you a wound, so certainly (has) touched the people wound like it. And this [the] days We alternate them among the people [and] so that Allah makes evident those who believe[d] and take from you martyrs. And Allah (does) not love the wrongdoers.
If misfortune touches you, [know that] similar misfortune has touched [other] people as well; for it is by turns that We apportion unto men such days [of fortune and misfortune]: and [this] to the end that God might mark out those who have attained to faith, and choose from among you such as [with their lives] bear witness to the truth - since God does not love evildoers -
If a wound hath touched you, be sure a similar wound hath touched the others. Such days (of varying fortunes) We give to men and men by turns: that God may know those that believe, and that He may take to Himself from your ranks Martyr-witness es (to Truth). And God loveth not those that do wrong.
If ye have received a blow, the (disbelieving) people have received a blow the like thereof. These are (only) the vicissitudes which We cause to follow one another for mankind, to the end that Allah may know those who believe and may choose witnesses from among you; and Allah loveth not wrong-doers.
If a wound has afflicted you, a wound like it has also afflicted the (disbelieving) people. And We bring these days to men by turns, that Allah may know those who believe and take witnesses from among you. And Allah loves not the wrongdoers,
If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people so that Allah may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allah does not like the wrongdoers -
Waliyumahhisa Allahu allatheena amanoo wayamhaqa alkafireena
And so that Allah may purify those who believe and destroy the disbelievers.
and that God might render pure of all dross those who have attained to faith, and bring to nought those who deny the truth.
God's object also is to purge those that are true in Faith and to deprive of blessing Those that resist Faith.
And that Allah may prove those who believe, and may blight the disbelievers.
And that He may purge those who believe and deprive the disbelievers of blessings.
And that Allah may purify the believers [through trials] and destroy the disbelievers.
Am hasibtum an tadkhuloo aljannata walamma yaAAlami Allahu allatheena jahadoo minkum wayaAAlama alssabireena
Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet made evident those who strove hard among you and made evident the steadfast.
Do you think that you could enter paradise unless God takes cognizance of your having striven hard [in His cause], and takes cognizance of your having been patient in adversity?
Did ye think that ye would enter Heaven without God testing those of you who fought hard (In His Cause) and remained steadfast?
Or deemed ye that ye would enter paradise while yet Allah knoweth not those of you who really strive, nor knoweth those (of you) who are steadfast?
Do you think that you will enter the Garden while Allah has not yet known those from among you who strive hard (nor) known the steadfast?
Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet made evident those of you who fight in His cause and made evident those who are steadfast?
Walaqad kuntum tamannawna almawta min qabli an talqawhu faqad raaytumoohu waantum tanthuroona
And certainly you used to wish (for) death before [that] you met it, then indeed, you have seen it while you (were) looking on.
For, indeed, you did long for death [in God's cause] before you came face to face with it; and now you have seen it with your own eyes!
Ye did indeed wish for death before ye met him: Now ye have seen him with your own eyes, (And ye flinch!)
And verily ye used to wish for death before ye met it (in the field). Now ye have seen it with your eyes!
And certainly you desired death before you met it. So indeed you have seen it now while you look (at it).
And you had certainly wished for martyrdom before you encountered it, and you have [now] seen it [before you] while you were looking on.
