38 - Sad (Saad)
Order of Revelation: 38وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
Wa-inna AAalayka laAAnatee ila yawmi alddeeni
And indeed, upon you (is) My curse until (the) Day (of) Judgment."
and My rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!"
"And My curse shall be on thee till the Day of Judgment."
And lo! My curse is on thee till the Day of Judgment.
And surely My curse is on thee to the day of Judgment.
And indeed, upon you is My curse until the Day of Recompense."
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Qala rabbi faanthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoona
He said, "My Lord! Then give me until (the) Day they are resurrected."
Said [Iblis]: Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!"
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."
He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised.
He said: My Lord, respite me to the day that they are raised.
He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ
Qala fa-innaka mina almunthareena
He said, "Then indeed, you (are) of those given respite,
Answered He: Verily, so [be it:] thou shalt be among those who are granted respite
(God) said: "Respite then is granted thee-
He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved
He said: Surely thou art of the respited ones.
[ Allah ] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ
Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloomi
Until (the) Day (of) the time well-known."
till the Day the time whereof is known [only to Me]."
"Till the Day of the Time Appointed."
Until the day of the time appointed.
Till the day of the time made known.
Until the Day of the time well-known."
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Qala fabiAAizzatika laoghwiyannahum ajmaAAeena
He said, "Then by I will surely mislead them all.
[Whereupon Iblis] said: Then [I swear] by Thy very might: I shall most certainly beguile them all into grievous error
(Iblis) said: "Then, by Thy power, I will put them all in the wrong,-
He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,
He said: Then by Thy Might! I will surely lead them all astray,
[Iblees] said, "By your might, I will surely mislead them all
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
Illa AAibadaka minhumu almukhlaseena
Except Your slaves among them the chosen ones."
[all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!"
"Except Thy Servants amongst them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."
Save Thy single-minded slaves among them.
Except Thy servants from among them, the purified ones.
Except, among them, Your chosen servants."
