And Lut, when he said to his people, "Do you commit [the] immorality while you see?

Translations:

AND [thus, too, did We save] Lot, when he said unto his people: Would you commit this abomination with your eyes open (to its being against all nature)?

(We also sent) Lut (as an apostle): behold, He said to his people, "Do ye do what is shameful though ye see (its iniquity)?

And Lot! when he said unto his folk: Will ye commit abomination knowingly?

And Lot, when he said to his people: Do you commit foul deeds, while you see?

And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ النِّسَاءِ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ

Transliteration:

A-innakum lata/toona alrrijala shahwatan min dooni alnnisa-i bal antum qawmun tajhaloona

Why do you approach the men (with) lust instead of the women? Nay, you (are) a people ignorant."

Translations:

Must you really approach men with lust instead of women? Nay, but you are people without any awareness (of right and wrong)!"

Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant!

Must ye needs lust after men instead of women? Nay, but ye are folk who act senselessly.

Will you come to men lustfully rather than women? Nay, you are a people who act ignorantly.

Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly."

But not was (the) answer (of) his people except that they said, "Drive out (the) family (of) Lut from your town. Indeed, they (are) people who keep clean

Translations:

But his people's only answer was this: Expel [Lot and] Lot's followers from your township! Verily, they are folk who make themselves out to be pure!"

But his people gave no other answer but this: they said, "Drive out the followers of Lut from your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!"

But the answer of his folk was naught save that they said: Expel the household of Lot from your township, for they (forsooth) are folk who would keep clean!

But the answer of his people was naught except that they said: Drive out Lot's followers from your town; surely they are a people who would keep pure!

But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure."

فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَاهَا مِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ

Thereupon We saved him and his household - all but his wife, whom We willed to be among those that stayed behind -*

But We saved him and his family, except his wife; her We destined to be of those who lagged behind.

Then We saved him and his household save his wife; We destined her to be of those who stayed behind.

But We delivered him and his followers except his wife; We ordained her to be of those who remained behind.

So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind.

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا فَسَاءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنذَرِينَ

And We rained a rain upon them. Dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned.

And We rained on them a rain; so evil was the rain on those who had been warned.

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
