15 - Al-Hijr Valley (Al-Hijr)

Order of Revelation: 54

لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ

Transliteration:

La yamassuhum feeha nasabun wama hum minha bimukhrajeena

Word by Word:

Not will touch them therein fatigue, and not they from it will be removed.

Translations:

No weariness shall ever touch them in this [state of bliss], and never shall they have to forgo it.

There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.

Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence.

Toil afflicts them not therein, nor will they be ejected therefrom.

No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.

نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration:

Nabbi/ AAibadee annee ana alghafooru alrraheemu

Word by Word:

Inform My slaves that I, I the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Translations:

Tell My servants that I - I alone - am truly forgiving, a true dispenser of grace;

Tell My servants that I am indeed the Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful;

Announce, (O Muhammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,

Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,

[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful.

وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ

Transliteration:

Waanna AAathabee huwa alAAathabu al-aleemu

Word by Word:

And that My punishment, it (is) the punishment the most painful.

Translations:

and [also,] that the suffering which I shall impose [on sinners] will indeed be a suffering most grievous.

And that My Penalty will be indeed the most grievous Penalty.

And that My doom is the dolorous doom.

And that My chastisement -- that is the painful chastisement.

And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

Transliteration:

Wanabbi/hum AAan dayfi ibraheema

Word by Word:

And inform them about (the) guests (of) Ibrahim,

Translations:

AND TELL THEM [once again] about Abraham's guests -

Tell them about the guests of Abraham.

And tell them of Abraham's guests,

And inform them of the guests of Abraham.

And inform them about the guests of Abraham,

إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ

Transliteration:

Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloo salaman qala inna minkum wajiloona

Word by Word:

When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." He said, "Indeed, we (are) of you afraid."

Translations:

[how,] when they presented themselves before him and bade him peace, he answered: "Behold, we are afraid of you!"

When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"

(How) when they came in unto him, and said: Peace. He said: Lo! we are afraid of you.

When they entered upon him, they said, Please! He said: We are afraid of you.

When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you."

قَالُوا لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ

Transliteration:

Qaloo la tawjal inna nubashshiruka bighulamin AAaleemin

Word by Word:

They said, "(Do) not be afraid, indeed, we [we] bring glad tidings to you of a boy learned."

Translations:

Said they: "Fear not! Behold, we bring thee the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who will be endowed with deep knowledge."

They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom."

They said: Be not afraid! Lo! we bring thee good tidings of a boy possessing wisdom.

They said: Be not afraid, we give thee good news of a boy, possessing knowledge.

[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."
