[This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfill His promise - but most people know [it] not:

(It is) the promise of God. Never does God depart from His promise: but most men understand not.

It is a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not.

(It is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail in His promise, but most people know not.

[It is] the promise of Allah . Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know.

Transliteration:

YaAAlamoona thahiran mina alhayati alddunya wahum AAani al-akhirati hum ghafiloona

Word by Word:

They know (the) apparent of the life (of) the world, but they, about the Hereafter, [they] (are) heedless.

Translations:

they know but the outer surface of this world's life, whereas of the ultimate things they are utterly unaware.

They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless.

They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter.

They know the outward of this world's life, but of the Hereafter they are heedless.

They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware.

Transliteration:

Awa lam yatafakkaroo fee anfusihim ma khalaqa Allahu alssamawati waal-arda wama baynahuma illa bialhaqqi waajalin musamman wa-inna katheeran mina alnnasi biliqa-i rabbihim lakafiroona

Word by Word:

Do not they ponder within themselves? Not Allah (has) created the heavens and the earth, and what (is) between them except in truth and (for) a term appointed. And indeed, many of the people in (the) meeting (with) their Lord surely (are) disbelievers.

Translations:

Have they never learned to think for themselves? God has not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth and a term set [by Him]: and yet, behold, there are many people who stubbornly deny the truth that they are destined to meet their Sustainer!

Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did God create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrectio n)!

Have they not pondered upon themselves? Allah created not the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, save with truth and for a destined end. But truly many of mankind are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord.

Do they not reflect within themselves? Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them but with truth, and (for) an appointed term. And surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting with their Lord.

Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers.

Transliteration:

Awa lam yaseeroo fee al-ardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihim kanoo ashadda minhum quwwatan waatharoo al-arda waAAamarooha akthara mimma AAamarooha wajaat-hum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

Word by Word:

Have not they traveled in the earth and observed how was (the) end (of) those before them? They were mightier than them (in) strength, and they dug the earth and built (on) it more than what they have built (on) it. And came (to) them their Messengers with clear proofs. So not was Allah to wrong them but they were themselves (doing) wrong.

Translations:

Have they, then, never journeyed about the earth and beheld what happened in the end to those [deniers of the truth] who lived before their time? Greater were they in power than they are; and they left a stronger impact on the earth, and built it up even better than these [are doing]; and to them [too] came their apostles with all evidence of the truth: and so, [when they rejected the truth and thereupon perished,] it was not God who wronged them, but it was they who had wronged themselves.

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their apostles with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not God Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.

Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built. Messengers of their own came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Surely Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves.

Have they not travelled in the earth and seen what was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it more than these have built. And their messengers came to them with clear arguments. So it was not Allah, Who wronged them, but they wronged themselves.

Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.

Transliteration:

Thumma kana AAaqibata allatheena asaoo alssoo-a an kaththaboo bi-ayati Allahi wakanoo biha yastahzi-oona

Word by Word:

Then was (the) end (of) those who did evil - the evil, because they denied (the) Signs (of) Allah and were of them making mockery.

Translations:

And once again: evil is bound to be the end of those who do evil by giving the lie to God's messages and deriding them.

In the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do evil; for that they rejected the Signs of God, and held them up to ridicule.

Then evil was the consequence to those who dealt in evil, because they denied the revelations of Allah and made a mock of them.

Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they rejected the messages of Allah and mocked at them.

Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them.

اللَّهُ يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

Transliteration:

Allahu yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu thumma ilayhi turjaAAoona

Word by Word:

Allah originates the creation, then He repeats it, then to Him you will be returned.

Translations:

GOD CREATES [man] in the first instance, and then brings him forth anew: and, in the end, unto Him you all will be brought back.

It is God Who begins (the process of) creation; then repeats it; then shall ye be brought back to Him.

Allah produceth creation, then He reproduceth it, then unto Him ye will be returned.

Allah originates the creation, then reproduces it, then to Him you will be returned.

Allah begins creation; then He will repeat it; then to Him you will be returned.
