51 - Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhareyat)

Order of Revelation: 67

وَالْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَاهَا فَنِعْمَ الْمَاهِدُونَ

Transliteration:

Waal-arda farashnaha faniAAma almahidoona

Word by Word:

And the earth, We have spread it; how excellent (are) the Spreaders!

Translations:

And the earth have We spread out wide - and how well have We ordered it!

And We have spread out the (spacious) earth: How excellently We do spread out!

And the earth have We laid out, how gracious is the Spreader (thereof)!

And the earth, We have spread it out. How well We prepared it!

And the earth We have spread out, and excellent is the preparer.

وَمِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ

Transliteration:

Wamin kulli shay-in khalaqna zawjayni laAAallakum tathakkaroona

Word by Word:

And of every thing We have created pairs, so that you may remember.

Translations:

And in everything have We created opposites, so that you might bear in mind [that God alone is One].

And of every thing We have created pairs: That ye may receive instruction.

And all things We have created by pairs, that haply ye may reflect.

And of everything We have created pairs that you may be mindful.

And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will remember.

فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

Transliteration:

Fafirroo ila Allahi innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeenun

Word by Word:

So flee to Allah, indeed, I am to you from Him a warner clear.

Translations:

And so, [O Muhammad, say unto them:] Flee unto God [from all that is false and evil]! Verily, I am a plain warner to you from Him!

Hasten ye then (at once) to God: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!

Therefor flee unto Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from him.

So flee to Allah. Surely I am a plain warner to you from Him.

So flee to Allah . Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.

وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ إِنِّي لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

Transliteration:

Wala tajAAaloo maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeenun

Word by Word:

And (do) not make with Allah god another. Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner clear.

Translations:

And do not ascribe divinity to aught side by side with God: verily, I am a plain warner to you from Him!"

And make not another an object of worship with God: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!

And set not any other god along with Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from Him.

And do not set up with Allah another god. Surely I am a plain warner to you from Him.

And do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.

كَذَٰلِكَ مَا أَتَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ

Transliteration:

Kathalika ma ata allatheena min qablihim min rasoolin illa qaloo sahirun aw majnoonun

Word by Word:

Likewise not came (to) those before them any Messenger but they said, "A magician or a madman."

Translations:

[But] thus it is: never yet came any apostle to those who lived before their time but they said, A spelbinder

Similarly, no apostle came to the Peoples before them, but they said (of him) in like manner, "A sorcerer, or one possessed"!

Even so there came no messenger unto those before them but they said: A wizard or a madman!

Thus there came not a messenger to those before them but they said: An enchanter or a madman!

Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."

أَتَوَاصَوْا بِهِ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ

Transliteration:

Atawasaw bihi bal hum qawmun taghoona

Word by Word:

Have they transmitted it to them? Nay, they (are) a people transgressing.

Translations:

Have they, perchance, handed down this [way of thinking] as a legacy unto one another? Nay, they are people filled with overweening arrogance!

Is this the legacy they have transmitted, one to another? Nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds!

Have they handed down (the saying) as an heirloom one unto another? Nay, but they are froward folk.

Have they charged each other with this? Nay, they are an inordinate people.

Did they suggest it to them? Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people.
