76 - The Human (Al-Insaan)

Order of Revelation: 98

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا

Transliteration:

AAaynan yashrabu biha AAibadu Allahi yufajjiroonaha tafjeeran

Word by Word:

A spring - will drink from it (the) slaves (of) Allah; causing it to gush forth abundantly.

Translations:

a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant.

A Fountain where the Devotees of God do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance.

A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly,

A fountain from which the servants of Allah drink, making it flow in abundance.

A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].

يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا

Transliteration:

Yoofoona bialnnathri wayakhafoona yawman kana sharruhu mustateeran

Word by Word:

They fulfill the vows and fear a Day - (which) is its evil widespread.

Translations:

[The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide,

They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide.

(Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading,

They fulfil vows and fear a day, the evil of which is widespread.

They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.

وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا

Transliteration:

WayutAAimona alttaAAama AAala hubbihi miskeenan wayateeman waaseeran

Word by Word:

And they feed the food in spite of love (for) it, (to the) needy, and (the) orphan and (the) captive,

Translations:

and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive,*

And they feed, for the love of God, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,-

And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him,

And they give food, out of love for Him, to the poor and the orphan and the captive.

And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلَا شُكُورًا

Transliteration:

Innama nutAAimukum liwajhi Allahi la nureedu minkum jazaan wala shukooran

Word by Word:

"Only we feed you for (the) Countenance (of) Allah. Not we desire from you any reward and not thanks.

Translations:

[saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks:

(Saying),"We feed you for the sake of God alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks.

(Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you;

We fed you, for Allah's pleasure only -- We desire from you neither reward nor thanks.

[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah . We wish not from you reward or gratitude.

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا

Transliteration:

Inna nakhafu min rabbina yawman AAaboosan qamtareeran

Word by Word:

Indeed, we fear from our Lord a Day - harsh and distressful."

Translations:

behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!"

"We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord."

Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate.

Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day.

Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."

فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا

Transliteration:

Fawaqahumu Allahu sharra thalika alyawmi walaqqahum nadratan wasurooran

Word by Word:

But will protect them Allah (from the) evil (of) that Day and will cause them to meet radiance and happiness.

Translations:

And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy,

But God will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy.

Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy;

So Allah will ward off from them the evil of that day, and cause them to meet with spendour and happiness;

So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness
