29 - The Spider (Al-'Ankaboot)

Order of Revelation: 85

يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ

Transliteration:

YastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi wa-inna jahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena

Word by Word:

They ask you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell, will surely, encompass the disbelievers

Translations:

They challenge thee to hasten the coming upon them of [God's] chastisement: but, verily, hell is bound to encompass all who deny the truth

They ask thee to hasten on the Punishment: but, of a surety, Hell will encompass the Rejecters of Faith!-

They bid thee hasten on the doom, when lo! hell verily will encompass the disbelievers

They ask thee to hasten on the chastisement, and surely hell encompasses the disbelievers --

They urge you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell will be encompassing of the disbelievers

يَوْمَ يَغْشَاهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِمْ وَيَقُولُ ذُوقُوا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration:

Yawma yaghshahumu alAAathabu min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim wayaqoolu thooqoo ma kuntum taAAmaloona

Word by Word:

On (the) Day will cover them the punishment from above them and from below their feet, and He will say, "Taste what you used (to) do."

Translations:

[encompass them] on the Day when suffering will overwhelm them from above them and from beneath their feet, whereupon He shall say: Taste [now the fruit of] your own doings!"

On the Day that the Punishment shall cover them from above them and from below them, and (a Voice) shall say: "Taste ye (the fruits) of your deeds!"

On the day when the doom will overwhelm them from above them and from underneath their feet, and He will say: Taste what ye used to do!

The day when the chastisement will cover them for above them, and from beneath their feet! And he will say: Taste what you did.

On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them and from below their feet and it is said, "Taste [the result of] what you used to do."

يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ أَرْضِي وَاسِعَةٌ فَإِيَّايَ فَاعْبُدُونِ

Transliteration:

Ya AAibadiya allatheena amanoo inna ardee wasiAAatun fa-iyyaya faoAAbudooni

Word by Word:

O My servants who believe! Indeed, My earth (is) spacious, so only worship Me.

Translations:

O YOU servants of Mine who have attained to faith! Behold, wide is Mine earth: worship Me, then, Me alone!

O My servants who believe! truly, spacious is My Earth: therefore serve ye Me - (and Me alone)!

O my bondmen who believe! Lo! My earth is spacious. Therefor serve Me only.

O My servants who believe, surely My earth is vast, so serve Me only.

O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me.

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ

Transliteration:

Kullu nafsin tha-iqatu almawti thumma ilayna turjaAAoona

Word by Word:

Every soul (will) taste the death. Then to Us you will be returned.

Translations:

Every human being is bound to taste death, [and] in the end unto Us shall all be brought back:

Every soul shall have a taste of death in the end to Us shall ye be brought back.

Every soul will taste of death. Then unto Us ye will be returned.

Every soul must taste of death; then to Us you will be returned.

Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned.

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُم مِّنَ الْجَنَّةِ غُرَفًا تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا نِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعَامِلِينَ

Transliteration:

Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanubawwi-annahum mina aljannati ghurafan tajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideena feeha niAAma ajru alAAamileena

Word by Word:

And those who believe and do [the] righteous deeds, surely We will give them a place in Paradise lofty dwellings, flow from underneath it the rivers, will abide forever in it. Excellent is (the) reward (of) the workers

Translations:

whereupon unto those who have attained to faith and wrought good works We shall most certainly assign mansions in that paradise through which running waters flow, therein to abide: how excellent a reward for those who labour

But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness - to them shall We give a Home in Heaven,- lofty mansions beneath which flow rivers,- to dwell therein for aye;- an excellent reward for those who do (good)!-

Those who believe and do good works, them verily We shall house in lofty dwellings of the Garden underneath which rivers flow. There they will dwell secure. How sweet the guerdon of the toilers,

And those who believe and do good, We shall certainly give them an abode in high places in the Garden wherein flow rivers, abiding therein. Excellent the reward of the workers.

And those who have believed and done righteous deeds - We will surely assign to them of Paradise [elevated] chambers beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers

الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

Transliteration:

Allatheena sabaroo waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona

Word by Word:

Those who (are) patient and upon their Lord put their trust.

Translations:

those who are patient in adversity and in their Sustainer place their trust!

Those who persevere in patience, and put their trust, in their Lord and Cherisher.

Who persevere, and put their trust in their Lord!

Who are patient, and on their Lord they rely!

Who have been patient and upon their Lord rely.
