8 - Spoils of War (Al-Anfal)
Order of Revelation: 88
Thalikum waanna Allaha moohinu kaydi alkafireena
That (is the case) and that, Allah (is) one who makes weak (the) plan (of) the disbelievers.
This [was God's purpose] -and also [to show] that God renders vain the artful schemes of those who deny the truth.
That, and also because God is He Who makes feeble the plans and stratagem of the Unbelievers.
That (is the case); and (know) that Allah (it is) Who maketh weak the plan of disbelievers.
This -- and (know) that Allah will weaken the struggle of the disbelievers.
That [is so], and [also] that Allah will weaken the plot of the disbelievers.
In tastaftihoo faqad jaakumu alfathu wa-in tantahoo fahuwa khayrun lakum wa-in taAAoodoo naAAud walan tughniya AAankum fi-atukum shay-an walaw kathurat waanna Allaha maAAa almu/mineena
If you ask for victory then certainly has come to you the victory. And if you desist, then it (is) good for you, but if you return, We will return (too). And never will avail you your forces anything, even if (they are) numerous. And that Allah (is) with the believers.
If you have been praying for victory, [O believers] - victory has now indeed come unto you. And if you abstain [from sinning], it will be for your own good; but if you revert to it, We shall revoke [Our promise of aid] - and never will your community be of any avail to you, however great its numbers: for, behold, God is [only] with those who believe !
(O Unbelievers!) if ye prayed for victory and judgment, now hath the judgment come to you: if ye desist (from wrong), it will be best for you: if ye return (to the attack), so shall We. Not the least good will your forces be to you even if they were multiplied: for verily God is with those who believe!
(O Qureysh!) If ye sought a judgment, now hath the judgment come unto you. And if ye cease (from persecuting the believers) it will be better for you, but if ye return (to the attack) We also shall return. And your host will avail you naught, however numerous it be, and (know) that Allah is with the believers (in His Guidance).
If you sought a judgment, the judgment has indeed come to you; and if you desist, it is better for you. And if you return (to fight), We (too) shall return and your forces will avail you nothing, though they may be many; and (know) that Allah is with the believers.
If you [disbelievers] seek the victory - the defeat has come to you. And if you desist [from hostilities], it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and never will you be availed by your [large] company at all, even if it should increase; and [that is] because Allah is with the believers.
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahu wala tawallaw AAanhu waantum tasmaAAoona
O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger. And (do) not turn away from while you hear.
[Hence,] O you who have attained to faith, pay heed unto God and His Apostle, and do not turn away from Him now that you hear [His message];
O ye who believe! Obey God and His Apostle, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak).
O ye who believe! Obey Allah and His messenger, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak).
O you who believe, obey Allah and His Messenger and turn not away from Him while you hear.
O you who have believed, obey Allah and His Messenger and do not turn from him while you hear [his order].
Wala takoonoo kaallatheena qaloo samiAAna wahum la yasmaAAoona
And (do) not be like those who say, "We heard," while they (do) not hear.
and be not like those who say, "We have heard", the while they do not hearken.
Nor be like those who say, "We hear," but listen not:
Be not as those who say, we hear, and they hear not.
And be not like those who say, We hear; and they hear not.
And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear.
Inna sharra alddawabbi AAinda Allahi alssummu albukmu allatheena la yaAAqiloona
Indeed, worst (of) the living creatures near Allah (are) the deaf, the dumb - those who (do) not use (their) intellect.
Verily, the vilest of all creatures in the sight of God are those deaf, those dumb ones who do not use their reason.
For the worst of beasts in the sight of God are the deaf and the dumb,- those who understand not.
Lo! the worst of beasts in Allah's sight are the deaf, the dumb, who have no sense.
Surely the vilest of beasts, in Allah's sight, are the deaf, the dumb, who understand not.
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason.
Walaw AAalima Allahu feehim khayran laasmaAAahum walaw asmaAAahum latawallaw wahum muAAridoona
And if Allah (had) known in them any good, surely, He (would) have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, surely they would have turned away, while they (were) averse.
For, if God had seen any good in them, He would certainly have made them hear: but [as it is,] even if He had made them hear, they would surely have turned away in their obstinacy.
If God had found in them any good. He would indeed have made them listen: (As it is), if He had made them listen, they would but have turned back and declined (Faith).
Had Allah known of any good in them He would have made them hear, but had He made them hear they would have turned away, averse.
And if Allah had known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He makes them hear, they would turn away while they are averse.
Had Allah known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing.
