Deem not that Allah is unaware of what the wicked do. He but giveth them a respite till a day when eyes will stare (in terror),

And think not Allah to be heedless of what the unjust do. He only respites them to a day when the eyes will stare (in terror),

And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror].

As they come hurrying on in fear, their heads upraised, their gaze returning not to them, and their hearts as air.

Hastening forward, their heads upraised, their gaze not returning to them, and their hearts vacant.

Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void.

And warn the mankind (of) a Day (when) will come to them the punishment, then will say those who did wrong, "Our Lord! Respite us for a term short; we will answer Your call and we will follow the Messengers." "Had not you sworn before not for you any end?

Translations:

Hence, warn men of the Day when this suffering may befall them, and when those who did wrong [in their lifetime] will exclaim: "O our Sustainer! Grant us respite for a short while, so that we might respond to Thy call and follow the apostles!" [But God will answer:] "Why - were you not aforetime wont to swear that no kind of resurrection and retribution awaited you?

So warn mankind of the Day when the Wrath will reach them: then will the wrong-doers say: "Our Lord! respite us (if only) for a short term: we will answer Thy call, and follow the apostles!" "What! were ye not wont to swear aforetime that ye should suffer no decline?

And warn mankind of a day when the doom will come upon them, and those who did wrong will say: Our Lord! Reprieve us for a little while. We will obey Thy call and will follow the messengers. (It will be answered): Did ye not swear before that there would be no end for you?

And warn people of a day when the chastisement will come to them, then the wrongdoers will say: Our Lord, respite us to a near term, we will respond to Thy call and follow the messengers. Did you not swear before that there will be no passing away for you?

And, [O Muhammad], warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, "Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." [But it will be said], "Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation?

And you dwelt in the dwellings (of) those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them, and We put forth for you the examples."

Translations:

And yet, you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who had sinned against their own selves [before your time], and it was made obvious to you how We had dealt with them: for We have set forth unto you many a parable [of sin, resurrection and divine retribution]."

"And ye dwelt in the dwellings of men who wronged their own souls; ye were clearly shown how We dealt with them; and We put forth (many) parables in your behoof!"

And (have ye not) dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves (of old) and (hath it not) become plain to you how We dealt with them and made examples for you?

And you dwell in the abodes of those who wronged themselves, and it is clear to you how We dealt with them and We made (them) examples for you.

And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you [many] examples."

And indeed they planned their plan, but with Allah (was) their plan, even if was their plan that should be moved by it the mountains.

Translations:

And [this retribution will befall all evildoers because] they devise that false imagery of theirs - and all their false imagery is within God's knowledge. [And never can the blasphemers prevail against the truth - not] even if their false imagery were so (well devised and so powerful] that mountains could be moved thereby.

Mighty indeed were the plots which they made, but their plots were (well) within the sight of God, even though they were such as to shake the hills!

Verily they have plotted their plot, and their plot is with Allah, though their plot were one whereby the mountains should be moved.

And they had indeed planned their plan, and their plan is with Allah, though their plan is such that the mountains should be moved thereby.

And they had planned their plan, but with Allah is [recorded] their plan, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains.

So think not that Allah will fail in His promise to His messengers. Surely Allah is Mighty, the Lord of retribution.

So never think that Allah will fail in His promise to His messengers. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution.
