78 - The Event (Al-Naba')

Order of Revelation: 80

جَزَاءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا

Transliteration:

Jazaan min rabbika AAataan hisaban6

Word by Word:

(As) a reward from your Lord, a gift (according to) account,

Translations:

[All this will be] a reward from thy Sustainer, a gift in accordance with [His Own] reckoning

Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient,

Requital from thy Lord - a gift in payment -

A reward from thy Lord, a gift sufficient;

[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,

رَّبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا

Transliteration:

Rabbi alssamawati waal-ardi wama baynahuma alrrahmani la yamlikoona minhu khitaban

Word by Word:

Lord (of) the heavens and the earth and whatever (is) between both of them the Most Gracious, not they have power from Him (to) address.

Translations:

[a reward from] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Most Gracious! [And] none shall have it in their power to raise their voices unto Him

(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (God) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him.

Lord of the heavens and the earth, and (all) that is between them, the Beneficent; with Whom none can converse.

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Beneficent, they are not able to address Him.

[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا

Transliteration:

Yawma yaqoomu alrroohu waalmala-ikatu saffan la yatakallamoona illa man athina lahu alrrahmanu waqala sawaban

Word by Word:

(The) Day will stand the Spirit and the Angels (in) rows, not they will speak except (one) who - permits [for] him the Most Gracious, and he (will) say (what is) correct.

Translations:

on the Day when all [human] souls and all the angels will stand up in ranks: none will speak but he to whom the Most Gracious will have given leave; and [everyone] will say [only] what is right.

The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (God) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right.

On the day when the angels and the Spirit stand arrayed, they speak not, saving him whom the Beneficent alloweth and who speaketh right.

The day when the spirit and the angels stand in ranks; none shall speak except he whom the Beneficent permits and he speaks aright.

The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ فَمَن شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَآبًا

Transliteration:

Thalika alyawmu alhaqqu faman shaa ittakhatha ila rabbihi maaban

Word by Word:

That (is) the Day the True. So whoever wills let him towards his Lord a return.

Translations:

That will be the Day of Ultimate Truth:* whoever wills, then, let him take the path that leads towards his Sustainer!

That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord!

That is the True Day. So whoso will should seek recourse unto his Lord.

That is the True Day, so whoever desires may take refuge with his Lord.

That is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.

إِنَّا أَنذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا

Transliteration:

Inna antharnakum AAathaban qareeban yawma yanthuru almaro ma qaddamat yadahu wayaqoolu alkafiru ya laytanee kuntu turaban

Word by Word:

Indeed We [We] have warned you (of) a punishment near (the) Day will see the man what have sent forth his hands and will say the disbeliever, "O I wish! I were dust!"

Translations:

Verily, We have warned you of suffering near at hand - [suffering] on the Day when man shall [clearly] see what his hands have sent ahead, and when he who has denied the truth shall say, "Oh, would that I were mere dust... !"

Verily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust!"

Lo! We warn you of a doom at hand, a day whereon a man will look on that which his own hands have sent before, and the disbeliever will cry: "Would that I were dust!"

Truly We warn you of a chastisement near at hand -- the day when man will see what his hands have sent before, and the disbeliever will say: O would that I were dust!

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"
