85 - The Constellations (Al-Burooj)

Order of Revelation: 27

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

Transliteration:

Inna batsha rabbika lashadeedun

Word by Word:

Indeed, (the) Grip (of) your Lord (is) surely strong.

Translations:

VERILY, thy Sustainer's grip is exceedingly strong!

Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.

Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern.

Surely the grip of thy Lord is severe.

Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.

إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ

Transliteration:

Innahu huwa yubdi-o wayuAAeedu

Indeed He, He originates and repeats,

Translations:

Behold, it is He who creates [man] in the first instance, and He [it is who] will bring him forth anew.

It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life).

Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth,

Surely He it is Who creates first and reproduces;

Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ

Transliteration:

Wahuwa alghafooru alwadoodu

And He alone is truly-forgiving, all-embracing in His love,

And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ

Thoo alAAarshi almajeedi

Has the story reached thee, of the forces-
