الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
Transliteration:
Allatheena hum fee khawdin yalAAaboona
Word by Word:
Who [they] in (vain) discourse are playing.
Translations:
all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain
That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles.
Who play in talk of grave matters;
Who amuse themselves by vain talk.
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
