إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Transliteration:
Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroona
Word by Word:
Indeed, they were, when it was said to them, "(There is) no god except Allah," were arrogant
Translations:
for, behold, whenever they were told, There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance
For they, when they were told that there is no god except God, would puff themselves up with Pride,
For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful
They indeed were arrogant, when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah;
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah ," were arrogant
