وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَىٰ بِجَانِبِهِ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَاءٍ عَرِيضٍ
Wa-itha anAAamna AAala al-insani aAArada wanaa bijanibihi wa-itha massahu alshsharru fathoo duAAa-in AAareedin
And when We bestow upon man, he turns away - and distances himself; but when touches him the evil, then (he is) full (of) supplication lengthy.
And, too, when We bestow Our blessings upon man, he tends to turn aside and keep aloof [from remembering Us]; but as soon as evil fortune touches him, he is full of wordy prayers!
When We bestow favours on man, he turns away, and gets himself remote on his side (instead of coming to Us); and when evil seizes him, (he comes) full of prolonged prayer!
When We show favour unto man, he withdraweth and turneth aside, but when ill toucheth him then he aboundeth in prayer.
And when We show favour to man, he turns away and withdraws himself; but when evil touches him, he is full of lengthy supplications.
And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication.
